If you build it, they will come.
As it turns out, that is not so!! O.k. a few came but not for my designs. Instead, they came for random accessories & apparel that I added to my boutique because I was spending more time building a catalog of other people's stuff that had no meaning to me (or the brand). I was so far from my initial plan that I quickly lost my way.Have you ever experienced that?
Losing your way because you were so focused on the wrong things that you had forgotten the real reason you were doing what you were doing?
Needless to say, it was a total waste of valuable time 🙄.
What I really wanted was to build a brand that empowered women. A brand that was there to help them push through were they were and get to where they wanted to be! Women that were feeling stuck due to toxic relationships and the toxic thinking and actions that results from those types of relationships.
Sounds like a lot for a brand to take on especially when we're talking about clothing. However, I believe that was (and still is) my calling.
Why?
When you're in a toxic environment, it's very easy to lose yourself, to say the least. Toxic relationships can cause self-doubt, self-loathing, low self-esteem, and an inability to believe that you deserve or can achieve anything other than your current situation. Those type of relationships and situations make you forget the strength that you have inside.
While seeking support for myself, I became even more aware of the messages that were out there including those that people wore to inspire others. I noticed cute sayings on t-shirts that were either unrealistic or didn't address real issue or either did so but in a cute "non-direct" way. I wanted something different. So, I set out to create a brand that women could wear to encourage themselves so they would know that...

My belief is that the path to discovering who you are and the strength you have inside doesn't have to be a lonely one but it has to be an intentional one. It has to be one of courage, one of determination, and one that continues to move you forward. When you get on that path, you uncover the ability to visualize something better for your life.
Spunk & Fire™ is more than just a brand, it's a movement to embody what we as women need in order to rise above and beyond abuse, neglect, sexism, discrimination, and just plain negativity.
So, that's it in a nutshell. Now, I invite you to find a design that speaks to you, share your story, and participate in actions that bring about a positive change within you.
